Join us for a Bio Blitz at Jarvis Park (Marvyile, TN)!

Join Foothills Land Conservancy staff, and many others, on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, from 9:30AM - 11:30AM for a community science Bio Blitz as we work together to document the biodiversity of Jarvis Park!

Using iNaturalist, a crowd‑sourced species identification platform, we will track plants, animals, insects, and fungi that live on—or move through— this preserved property. Every observation strengthens statewide biodiversity data and supports long‑term conservation efforts.

Volunteers will explore the park and record observations of plants, animals, insects, and fungi using the iNaturalist app. You’re welcome to participate independently or as part of a team, and you may join at any point during the event.

This free event is open to nature enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels. (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult). Naturalists and FLC staff will be on hand to assist with species identification.

Additional Details: We will meet at 9:30AM in the parking area of Jarvis Park for a brief orientation before heading out on the trails. Please bring appropriate outdoor clothing (long pants and closed‑toe shoes are strongly recommended) and a phone with the iNaturalist app downloaded before arrival. Light weeding and invasive plant removal will occur. If you are interested in assisting, gloves and tools will be available but feel free to bring your own.

In 2021, Jarvis Park officially opened to the public. A big thank you to Dr. Craig Jarvis, the City of Maryville, and landowners Betty Duncan & Jim Cornett for preserving this natural area while also providing public access.
