This event provides a unique opportunity to learn about raptors of Tennessee and conservation efforts including the newly established Farmland Raptor Project. Discover the fascinating world of raptors and actively contribute to their conservation. Come be a part of this inspiring initiative and make a positive impact on our local ecosystem. Your involvement can help protect and preserve the majestic raptors that call East Tennessee home. Note that this event is free but registration is encouraged. Donations provided using this page will go towards supporting the Tennessee Farmland Raptor Project.
This two hour event begins with an indoor presentation.
- Foothills Land Conservancy staff will provide a brief introduction and overview of the event.
- Bracken Brown, Biologist-Naturalist with Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, will discuss 'Raptors, Raptor Conservation, and the Pennsylvania Farmland Raptor Project.'
- Katheryn Albrecht, Wildlife Biologist/Ornithologist with MTM Enviornmental, LLC, will present an overview of the Farmland Raptor Project in Tennessee.
The second portion of the event will be held outdoors.
- Bracken Brown will provide an American kestrel nest box demonstration and installation (outdoors).
- There will be an overview of nest boxes for American kestrels and barn owls
- Lastly, there will be a hands-on session involving the building, installing, and monitoring nest boxes.
